Mark Hamilton (Tulane), Manny Burris ( Kent State ) and Charlie Yarbrough (WKU) highlight a crop of former Senators named to their respective All-Conference Teams. The Senator Alumni have accumulated 12 post season honors during the 2006 campaign.
Hamilton (VS03) was named player of the year in Conference USA , Burris (VS04) was named Player of the Year in the Mid American Conference, and Charlie Yarbrough (VS04) was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of theYear.
Hamilton a 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI honoree, Hamilton earned the recognition after leading the team in home runs (17), RBI (61), total bases (130) and slugging percentage (.644) while ranking second in walks (45), runs scored (53) and on-base percentage (.455), third in batting average (.332) and hits (67). He leads team with 16 multiple-RBI games, including five four-RBI games a season-high five against Stephen F. Austin (April 21) on the strength of two home runs.
Burriss, a junior shortstop ranks fifth in the nation in stolen bases (38) and sixth in runs scored (67). The KSU leadoff hitter's .375 average ranks fourth in the MAC. He also tallied 17 extra-base hits during the regular season.
Yarbrough, the third player in four years from WKU to win the conference's player of the year honor, led the conference in four offensive categories including home runs (17) and RBI (61) and was fifth in the league in batting average (.372). The Richmond , Va. native tied an EKU single game record with three home runs against Oakland on March 1, earning him Collegiate Baseball's Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honor.
