July 21, 2006. Vienna, VA. Mason Griffin (Grayson County College) remained perfect on the season and the Senators extended their season-long winning streak over the D.C. Grays with a 10-2 win over the Grays at Waters Field tonight.

Griffin improved to 5-0 on the season and lowered his league-leading earned run average to 0.78 after allowing one run on one hit while striking out seven over six innings. After making his first 16 appearances in relief, Griffin has now allowed three runs over 15 innings in his first two starts of the season. J.J. Pannell (George Mason University) struck out eight while allowing two runs (one earned) in three innings of relief work.

Left fielder Joe Newman (Oklahoma University) paced Vienna at the plate by going 2-for-4 with three RBI . Center fielder Nate Simon (Tulane University) added two hits and first baseman Greg Wolfe (University of New Orleans) had a two-run double.

The Senators have won each of their nine contests against the Grays this season.
