July 12, 2006. Vienna, VA. Center fielder Joe Newman (Oklahoma University) went 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored to lead the Senators to a 10-5 victory over the D.C. Grays tonight at Waters Field. The win moves Vienna two games ahead of the Herndon Braves, who lost to the Fauquier Gators, in the overall league standings.

Catcher Franco Valdes (Broward Community College) had two hits and
three RBI while second baseman Nate Simon (Tulane University) and
third baseman Travis Dunson (Lamar University) each had two hits
apiece. Shortstop Anthony Scelfo (Tulane University) and right
fielder Xavier Qualls (Southeastern Louisiana University) each added
two RBI as the Senators improved to 21-7 overall on the season.

Six Vienna pitchers combined to limit the Grays to six hits as the
Senators improved to 8-0 against the league's newest team. Garrett
Smith (Frederick Community College) picked up the victory after
throwing 2.2 scoreless innings after taking over for starter Jake
Bruton (Harvard University) with one out in the third inning.
