VIENNA, VA—The Senator coaching staff has chosen AJ LaMonda as the Senator of the Week for the July 11-17. LaMonda had a very productive week for the Senators. He went 8 for 23 with six runs scored, five doubles, one homerun, and 10 RBIs. LaMonda has been just as productive the entire season. For the season, LaMonda is hitting .360 with 26 RBIs, one homerun, nine doubles, and an astounding .406 on base percentage.
LaMonda, a rising junior at Loyola Marymound University, hit .258 with three homeruns and 28 RBIs while starting 42 of 53 games for the Lions. As a freshman at Loyola Marymount, LaMonda had 29 hits, four doubles and, 24 RBIs. He drove in the only run for Loyola Marymount in the first game of the WCC Championship as a freshman.
LaMonda played high school baseball at Servite High School in Anaheim, CA. Hit .420 with just seven strikeouts his senior year. Named to the All Sierra League first team as a senior.
He is the son of Kathy and Herbert LaMonda and has three siblings. His brother, Zack, played football at San Diego State University and now plays in the Arena Football League. He is an undeclared science major and would like to become an orthopedic surgeon after baseball.
