The Senator coaching staff has chosen Guillermo Martinez as the Senator of the Week for the week of June20-26. Martinez had an eventful week. Defensively, Martinez sports a sparkling .943 fielding percentage.
Martinez, a sophomore at the University of South Alabama, started 60 of 61 games this past season and hit .272 with three homeruns and 26 RBIs. He also stole five bases.
Martinez played high school baseball at Miami Coral Park High and was a 17th round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox in 2003. He lettered four years in high school and was a Three- time Offensive Player of the Year. He was also third team All State as a junior and first team All-Dade County as a senior. Set a single season record with a .513 batting average as a senior.
